Do u have to be original owner to extend mercedes star warranty???
I just purchased a 2006 CLS55 used from a private owner. I went to my local dealership and they said that I can only buy an aftermarket warranty. And that I can not buy the mercedes star extended warranty because I am not the original owner. Does this sound right???

That does not sound right to me. I bought a certified pre-owned 2001 E320 (52,000 miles) from a dealer here. At the same time, I bought an additional
12 months to go with the 12 month/100,000 miles that M-B gives you. All of this is through M-B, nothing after-market about it. The finance guy said that it is non-refundable, but is transferable to a subsequent owner.
Our situations are different, but I don't think that dealer is being truthful with you. You have a much newer, much more expensive, yada yada than I have, and the original (transferable warranty I think) should still be in effect
Good luck,
M

Some dealers will Starmark warranty it if you take it to them right away and the car passes their Starmark inspection....but not all dealers will do this.
Starmark is transferrable from private party to private party, but not if you buy the car from a non-Benz dealer.
