Very unfortunate, although I can't help but wonder which model it was. If someone dies in a Mercedes-Benz, that means the accident must have been pretty serious.

Wow, that's too bad.

Yeah, I was shocked when Princess Diana died in that Paris tunnel. Do you know what you have to do to wreck an S600 that bad?! I think I read she wasn't wearing a seatbelt, though...

Hm... Over 100 mph into a concrete pillar..

No, she was not wearing her seat belt. Had she been wearing the belt she would have lived. The drive was, in fact wearing his belt. Although he sustained major injuries, he lived, and recovered.

It wasn't the driver, it was her personal body guard.

Also, it wasn't the current W220 S-Class, it was the older S-Class.

Just goes to show, people wearing seatbelts usually survive, people who don't, die. My stepmother just totaled her 3 month old E320, sombody turned in front of her. Airbags deployed, pretensioners, etc. My Dad suffered a small cut to his forhead, no other injuries. They were hit, spun, and hit again. BTW, they immidiately received a tele-aid call, told them to exit car if they could, fire, police, ambulance were on the way. Seems tele-aid is very worthwhile.

Well this Kansas City linebacker was going who knows how fast to cause his car to flip over several times, that isn't the car's fault.

As for Princess Diana no she wasn't wearing her seatbelt. Had she had it on she would have survived.

I mean, Mercedes are probably some of the safest cars out there, they give you a better chance than say a Saturn, but they aren't indestructible.

The safety features of our cars are pretty much useless without a seatbelt and can sometimes do more harm than good. I don't think I have driven a day in my life without my seatbelt on.

I was in Paris two years ago and drove pass crash spot. Nasty pillars....Diana was in back seat of older S320....if she had had a seatbelt on...she would have lived and walked away without a scratch (maybe some shoulder bruising form belt)....the rear seat area was completely intact....the bodyguard in front passenger seat was only one with belt on and he lived.....

Diana immediately became a 135 pound 100mph missle inside that S320.....no way anyone can live in any car under that circumstance....other than an extreme miracle..
