My wife just washed my shorts. Only problem was that my key was in the pocket.

I noticed as the clothes were going into the dryer. Took the key out, no it didn't go thru the dryer... I knew it wasn't going to work with out a little luck and an hour with the hairdryer.

But, just for fun I thought I'd try it before I got started.... Works perfect.

I have since dried it out... but it worked and works as if it had never been washed.

My key went through the washer and dryer. No problems.

Pretty happy with that.

Count yourself lucky. The key may work - for now. They probably did make an good effort to seal it against for general wear and tear, but I don't think they intended to make it water proof - more like "weather proof". I would use that key as a spare. It may fail on you some time down the road - so to speak
