Mercedes Car Group Posts Sales Records - Again
The Mercedes Car Group posted record sales of 110,800 vehicles in November. This was a 5 per cent increase over a year ago.
November Sales of Mercedes-Benz cars increased 9 per cent to 101,900 vehicles; with "particularly strong growth" reported for both the E- and S-Class models, as well as for the SUV model lineup.
8,900 smart brand cars were sold in November.
US sales rose 21 per cent and set a new record at 22,100 passenger cars.
Sales in Europe were up 7 per cent to 62,300 vehicles. In Germany passenger car sales increased by 21 percent to 34,100 vehicles.
In the Asia-Pacific region sales set a new record at 9,900 vehicles.
Worldwide deliveries of Mercedes Benz, Maybach, and Smart passenger cars in total for the first 11 months of 2006 (through November) totalled a new all-time high of 1,042,500 - an increase of 8 percent across the model-range over this same period last year.
The total sales for smart cars for the first 11 months of 2006 was 105,100 vehicles.
Through the first 11 months of the year Chrysler Car Group's sales were down 8 percent (from the same period last year).
The Chrysler Car Group lost 1.5B USD in the third quarter alone.
Joe Eberhardt, Chrysler Group's Executive Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing, and Service, is "leaving his post" and "will join a Mercedes-Benz dealership in the US".... LOL (He was GM of Mercedes-Benz of Manhattan during the 1990's).
And the punchline? Tommy Lasorda (Board Director and holder of some lengthy sales title) will be heading US Sales until a replacement is put in place....
[No reason to delete this one either, amdeutsch -- I really don't want to have to re-type it(!). Thanks. ]
