On a much smaller scale, yet in a similar situation, if you were a woman carrying a Louis Vuitton purse (maybe worth $2,000) and you saw another woman carrying a fake LV purse (maybe worth $75), would you call her out on it?? Nooooo... nobody does that. But you just know you are carrying the real thing that will last for years and the other person has something that will fall apart soon. I don't know, maybe it's a guy thing, that you need to embarrass someone else to feel better about yourself.

Ok , let me try another one.....you're in a fancy restaraunt and you get up to use the lady's room. You walk in and you open the door to a stall and a "lady" standing in a dress has their back to you and a massive yellow steam is flowing into the toilet.......you tell me you're not gonna yell "fraud" and ruin his night.....after all he is "posing"

I remember, about seven years, maybe even before that, they were reviewing the Lightning on Speed or something, and they spent about five minutes explaining the difference between a regular F150 and a Lightning just in case of a situation like this...

You know your car is real, and is worth what you paid for it, and that is what really counts. Just feel sorry for the losers who have to put on fake badges to make them feel better about their cars.

My .02 cents.
If you're justifying embarassing people in public, based on the monetary difference of your vehicles makes you equally shallow as a "poser" who deliberately makes others feel bad by rebadging their vehicles.
It's nobody's business other than their own when it comes to how much you spent. People who advertise it (different than admitting it) must have some sort inferiority complex. Personally keeping that thought in my head or even saying it quietly to my "finance" would have been sufficient. But to each their own.
Also, the fact that you had to add it was an "Asian" guy as opposed to leaving out the race of the poor fellow as you've done with your acquaintances further exemplifies the petty nature of yours. I'm sure there will be backlashes to my opinion but what can I say? A person who knows no shame can't be feel ashamed.

Hey, it works both ways.
I'm embarassed by the "all show no go" Mercedes out there. Since it's "show" they're after, well, it's "in public" too, obviously.
Your "righteous indignation" is no different than anyone else's and certainly not more righteous.
Of course pathetic and funny come close to the same thing many times. Not exactly automotive engineering geniuses, many of these posers.
But, my thoughts mean little to and certainly don't hurt the posers and they don't need your volunteer righteous defense in any event. Even I think my ideas are kind of funny sometimes.

Wow some of you guys are complete pansies. Posers should be taken out and shot, no quarter, no mercy. They claim respect that they don't deserve, and for that reason alone they should be ridiculed at every impass. I worked like a madman to get my ///M, and any tool that rebadges a 530i and slaps some M5 wheels and bumpers on it gets the business, every time.

I drive my cars to drive them not show off. I enjoy driving, but obviously most of you just like showing off. It comes down to the fact that, the other person he/she is not enjoying their car as much as you are, if it is rebadged as a better car.

SL550, E550 4-Matic, X5, and others...
It's surprising because some of these "posers" are driving CL's and S's, which is nothing to be ashamed of. However, at the end of the day, we can't do anything because we didn't spend a dime on that car...it's all a matter of personal choice. You don't like it, don't do it! Don't worry so mcuh about what Bobby next door does.
BTW, no, I don't pose on my own stable .

If you want to be a poser, why only do it half way?
I am going out to my garage now to take off my "C230" emblem and replace it with a more respectable "S600" emblem. Maybe 6 inch high letters.

I've seen some nice E36 318ti's rebadged ///M3 or ///M318ti but they had an S52 (M3 engine for those that don't know) swap, so it makes at least some sense.

No matter what your race is (Asian or non-Asian), a constitutional benefit that one receives in this country is something called freedom of expression and association. Hence, there’s an owner's choice to individualize his vehicle based on his preference.
I believe everyone here has the right to agree or to disagree with the legitimacy of "posing". True, I sometimes laugh at people who purposely badge their 318is as the M3 based on my knowledge and ownership of a similar model.
That being said, I think there's a difference between simply laughing off what someone has done to his/her car and calling him/her out directly in public. While it's not prohibited by law, the action that intends to embarrass another in public is simply not sensitive.
Calling another person a poser simply because he has a lesser model based on monetary value of a car is also not entirely justified. For all you know, hypothetically someone could have paid full MSRP for his incorrectly badged SLK230 than you have with your used S600.

i agree with calling people out! ironic because i was walking downtown and saw
your gurl. she had fake lashes, extensions, and obviously a padded bra. she used
blush and had heels to make her look taller and all this hid the fact that she was
short, flat chested, anemic looking and walked like a duck in slippers. so i laughed
my *** off and pointed this out to everyone within earshot. i felt so much better
knowing that i exposed your girlfriend who portrayed herself as someone she
was not.
