So plastic bag under my car...

I have an 07 CLS 550 and my car started to smell funny...a burning smell...it kept going on...I went to BENZ and they said a plastic bag was stuck under the exhaust and they wanted $200 to remove it but the guy who I take my Benz/Bimmer to (will take my Benz on future services but always took my past Bimmer to him) said it will just burn off in a couple of days and it is not a big deal to remove it....is that true? Will it be okay or will it be bad for my car and it will go away once it burns? Thanks for all your help!

You'd think that it would be enough to just jack the car up reach in there and grap it I don't see how it could cost $200 if it just flew in there under normal condirions it can't be that stuck unless it's melted I'd think it would burn off too provided its not near any electrical systems.
