DIY maintenance

When buying an MB must you have it serviced by the dealer to preserve warranty? If I buy new or used with existing MB warranty and say something goes wrong, but I maintained the car myself with genuine MB parts. Do you think MB would give me a problem with that like saying "well this happened bec. u didn't have it maintained by our superior technical experts blah, blah, and therefore u have voided your warranty"? IIRC, as long as you use genuine parts, and follow the procedures outlined in the manual for basic service (oil change, other fluid change), they cannot use that against you.

I've heard MB charges $100 for an oil change - gotta pay to play I guess.

Thanks for any help.

DIY service does not void your warranty.

I do all my own basic maintenance; oil changes , filters (all), etc. I bought the official Star Service CD and I buy official MB parts at the dealership. I keep my receipts for every part I buy, and document all work I have done. I maintain a good working relationship with my dealer. Yes, I actually enjoy working on my Mercedes.

I ordered mine from the Mercedes dealer here. It was about $100 US. For W203 models, the part number on the DVD cover is P-2700-203-06. A word of caution, this may be for US models only (Diesel models don't seem to be included).
