Extended Warranty

I am considering Warranty Direct extended warranty for my 08 E-550. If I make any engine modifications through Kleemann does this prevent any future warranty work either through the current 4 yr. MB warranty or an extended warranty? Car is new and am thinking of getting a two year extension via the extended warranty for total of 6 yrs.

i would imagine yes, it would. but i have nothing that major done, just exhaust. best people to ask would be that specific warranty company or MBUSA, either way, i don't think the answer you want would be the one your gonna get

I ask this of my service person before and he said more than likely they will not warranty because it wasn't something that the dealer install or there parts. Also he said they will have to proved what every part you but on the car caused the problem.

Called Mercedes of Miami and I was told by the warranty department, these the the best 3 companies. Western General, Continental, and Mercury (The Auto Club). Which is also the highest priced.

Warranty

Two of the MB dealers in Denver recommend and sell Fidelity Warranty Services and the third recommends Zurich. The Fidelity is more of a Mechanical Breakdown policy (even the Platinum) which many on this site say is not very comprehensive as it does not cover any wear and tear items. So far I still like Warranty Direct as it seems more comprehensive. Edumund's also seems to favor it. I am still looking - thanks for the ideas. Despite a lot of searches I cannot find an independent group who has actually lined up these extended warranty contracts and rendered an unbiased opinion after reading the actual contract you will sign.

I had to persist to get an actual policy contract from my MB dealer on Fidelity as they kept faxing me the brochure material. The devil is in the details. Warranty Direct has their policy contract. for download right off their website.
