basic transmission question

I'm new to this forum and have some basic questions:

Transmission: What's the W and S stand for, and how different is that from C and S.

Does this change the method of upshifting and downshifting?

Also if you downshift to 1st in Tiptronic mode and don't manually upshift, are the gears held the same as if you started in regular "D" in the first place?

"W" stands for Winter/Wet mode. The trans starts out in 2nd unless you floor it and hit the kickdown switch.

"S" stands for Standard Mode. The trans starts our in 1st gear.

If you manually shift the trans into 1st via tiptronic, it wont upshift until right around redline. The system WILL NOT let the engine over rev for safety reasons.

Beats me. I don't have a "C" option.
