Do you have access to your credit card's website to check your card activity? If you do, you can see if they even put the charge through on the deposit. If you don't have this access, call your credit card consumer service department and find out. Issuing a credit on a credit card takes two seconds!

As a last resort, you can refuse to pay the charge on your credit card when the bill arrives. Check with your credit card company what you need to do when you refuse payment on the charge. If you used AmEx, it is quite simple.

As far as your new deal with the other dealer:
The end of the month is fast approaching. Many salesmen have not met their quota yet. For that matter, many dealerships haven't. If they want your business before Nov 30, now is the time to play 'hard to get'.
