CLK or E?

I was supposed to get my dads old 740 but the monthly payment on that is 800 wich is 2 high. SO now he is looking at the new E or New CLK, and he asked me wich one to get. Being 17 I told him your the one paying for it and I don't really care. I'm happy enough to get a car let alone a mercedes. Since he has kept on asking me, what should I tell him clk or E because I am not sure. We went to the dealer and saw the E but they didn't have the clk.

I assume you are speaking of the new bodystyles in both the CLK and E (209 and 211). That being said, do you want 2 doors or 4? Is the E too big for your tastes? Is the CLK too small? They are both great cars, i like them both a lot, i was in the same position a couple years ago, but a completely different choice to be made. Mine was BMW or Mercedes, i think most of yall would agree i made the right decision... I say look at them both, drive them both, compare color options in both, and if you are still unsure, just keep thinking about it until you are sure. Yes your father is paying, but youre the one thats going to drive it. He gave you the choice, so i say make the best choice for you. Good luck.

Unless your father is 25 or somewhere around there, tell him to get an E. The new styling of the CLK is more fit for the younger generation.

I'd prefer the CLK....personally I've seen waaaaay too many of the new E's, while the CLK's are rare in this area.....love the front of the E, but the back half just doesn't do it for me

Thanks a lot for the responses. But I see some of you misunderstood me. My father is buying me a new car. I am 17, and because of my age they will not let me test drive a car.

test drives

I went in a few weeks ago to a MB dealership w/ my mom. They let me test drive a few cars w/o her in the car....it was just me and the sales person. Not sure if this was against the rules because I'm 16, but basically if you show enough interest in the car, they can 'bend' a few rules for you. Or you could just simply try another dealership?

In that case, ask him to get you a CLK500 then. A CLK55 might be an overkill, but don't turn him down if he does!

raise some hell, i test drove a CLK, and a brand new M3, and i was younger than you are now. Granted we have the ability to do many things at the MB dealership that most customers cannot because of our past with them, but we have NEVER owned a BMW. I think if the salesperson thinks he can make a sale, he will let you drive. Just make sure they know that just because you are young, you are serious about buying. If he wants to sell the car, he will let you drive if you have a license.

lol. No my dad is only gonna get me either a clk320 with options or E320 with options. Even if he allowed me to get a 500 I don't know if I'd want it cause then people will think I'm snobby. Seeing a 17 year old driving around in a 52 or 55 thousand dollar car.

Ohh ok a CLK320 is still not bad. but unfortinitly even if u get a CLK320 people are still going to think your snobby because its a Mercedes, and most people dont know the difference.
Trust me, i'm 17 also.

19 here.

But damn your lucky like me too and petie i guess.

Wheni went to dealer ship the sales person just handed me the key to any car and said here you go handed me the keys and told me to go drive.

That sort of made me make my mind on a mercedes. Out of all the dealerships i went to.The MB Dealer was the only one that let me drive by myself. At the other dealer ships the salesman would go with me

I would go with the E personally its bigger, and all you need to do is put some 20 inch Dubz and your straight

Yeah the MB dealership was the only one that just threw me the keys and said have fun. I pissed the MBW guy off because he asked me if i wanted to go somewhere to let it rip, and of course i said yes. we went to a deserted straitaway, he says go ahead, step on it, see how you like it. So i proceeded to run the engine up to 2500 RPM and let the clutch go and stomp the gas. Tires spun, got a little smoke, and threw his head back. He wasnt too happy.......what did he expect????

I would definetly go for the W211 over the W209.

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
Get both.

Tell the old man that MBs are NOT perfect machines. While the E is in the shop, the CLK serves as back-up, -- and vice versa.

gbahri,

I vote for the E! You'll need four doors for convenience ... (ease of entry & exit for your friends )

Just make sure you're not distracted when you're driving them around
