How much to tip the delivery guy?

My new (used) e55 is on a truck from california to be delivered to me tomorrow. How much should I tip the truck driver?

He picked up the car in cali, put it in an enclosed trailer and is dropping it off to me tomorrow here in NJ.

How much would you tip? All advice welcome.

thanks,

Boy are you a nickle rocket. I think that even 100 is low considering it is a coast to coast trip. If it were me it would be maybe $250.00.

It depends.

1) Is it being delivered by an owner of a delivery company, who also is the operator who makes all the profits?

If so I'd say no.

2) Driver hired by the load or hourly

I;d say yes

3) The Condition of the shipment?

Bruce
PS !0% of your cost would be fair I'd say.

I can't afford
I own a Exotic car transport co. and most of the time my driver doesn't get tipped. We don't expect to. If you want to throw him $20 $40 for a beer or cause diesel prices are out of control that's cool, and most of us do really appreciate it.

Thanks guys, I used Intercity Lines. The driver (I assume) is an employee of the company.

$250 for doing his job? $100 would be more than generous

Yes
agreed....250 is insane.

I paid $500ish to get my car shipped from South FL to the DC area, tipped the guy $100 and he seemed absolutely stoked. Made last minute reservations with the transport co, they took real good care of the car, came perfectly and super super fast. Deserved every penny of the tip.
