I am currently doing a research on German car fanatics. And coming from someone who doesn't have much knowledge about German cars, I was wondering if you guys out there could help me out. If you could please answer these two questions. What differentiates Mercedes for other German cars such as BMWs and Audies? And what is your primary drive to become a Mercedes fan?

Also, I have been to BMW blogs, and they tell me that while Mercedes has lots to do with safety and luxury, BMW fans are saying that BMW is about all that plus sports and technology. What do you think about this?

Mercedes has lots to do with safety and luxury. TRUE

BMW fans are saying that BMW is about all that plus sports and technology.
Mercedes has plenty of sporty models, and a lot more technology then BMW.

If you look at international auto racing history, you'll find Mercedes MUCH more "sporty" than BMW.

BMWs are set up with more oversteer than Mercedes, and for some models purchase frankly should come with a driving school--as is the case with Porsche.
