No Service Record !!!
I just bought a '97 SL 320, and the service book has never been used - is that common ???
Is there a way to get service records ???

Of course...
Service books are like passports..some places insist on stamping them, some could care less about their existence.
The dealer can do a search on the VIN for any work done on the car (the caveat is of course that the car had to be worked on by an MB dealer). You could also get creative and call some service shops in the neighborhood where you bought the car or where it was purchased from, to see if they tracked records.

Thanks - I emailed the original dealer - Cherry Hill Motors, NJ - no reply...
Of course, the important thing is the condition of the car now - I'm having it checked out...
