I got this off a dealer's web site....

and whatever they charge, between 3 to 4 hundred, is too much.

Flexible Service System - A-Service

What we do:
- Change your vehicle's engine oil and filter
- Replace the dust filter in all SLK, CLK, C-Class and E-Class models
- Ensure the warning and indicator lamps, horn, windshield/headlamp
wiper and washer systems, and seat belts are functioning correctly
- Inspect tires and check tire pressure (including spare)
- Inspect brake pad thickness and disc condition
- Check and correct all fluid levels
- Reset your vehicle's FSS counter

Flexible Service System - B-Service

What we do:
- Change your vehicle's engine oil and filter
- Replace the dust filter in all SLK, CLK, C-Class and E-Class models,
and in S-Class and SL-Class models without the active charcoal filter
- Replace windshield wiper inserts
- Inspect and rotate tires
- Lubricate and inspect throttle linkage
- Ensure the parking brake, steering play, headlamps and exterior lamps,
warning and indicator lamps, horn, windshield/headlamp wiper and washer
systems, seat belts, and backrest lock (S-Class only) are functioning correctly
- Inspect tires and check tire pressure (including spare)
- Inspect brake pad thickness and disc condition
- Inspect front axle ball joints and Poly-V-belt
- Check and correct all fluid levels
- Reset your vehicle's FSS counter

Thanks a lot, at least now I know last time I had service B done because they replaced the wiper blade (even though it was fine and wiped fine). If I remember correctly they charged $385.00 for it.
I really don't complain about the cost because it had been 14k miles already, FSS still said 1000 miles before service but I was getting worried about that oil.

It appears that the A service is essentially an oil/filter change.

All those 'check' items are meaningless.

65 dlls oil change at Jiffy lube does the same (I think they check 24 points on your car and lube the joints too), I said 65 because they have to use 8 quarts of syntetic oil, on a regular car w/regular oil I think it is like 25 dlls

and just like any place, they rediculous amounts they'll charge to top up the fluids, I'd rather just have the oil/filter changes done and that's it.

Has anyone had experience with Service A or B and specifying things they did not want done but were done anyways? I'm not paying $20 for someone to pour a litre of washer fluid in my car, or top up the engine coolant, at least at places like Jiffy Lude they'll ask first before doing it.

hundred bucks! hahahahahahahahahahhaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

You're killing me!!!!!

No, seriously....a basic oil change runs $175 at my dealer.

The B service runs over $400, and the A service is a bit less than that.
After 50k miles of course.
