Anyone w/Allstate had OEM parts replaced?
Did you run into the policy that if they can find from a wholesaler or body shop with parts of "like kind/like quality" for the part in question, they will pay to use those instead of paying to replace a brand new one. For example, need to replace my front passenger headlight, and a brand new one from mercedes is $1700 + labor (i think this is the whole entire "kit") but my body shop can get a refurbished one that is virtually brand new and including labor, the price will be much less. Thoughts? The question for me isnt whether I trust one place over another, because West Coast Specialties is impeccable in my opinion and has never been anything but 100% perfect with me, but rather, should I push Allstate to buy a brand new one, i.e., risk my car sitting in the shop longer because mercedes is going to fight with the Supplemental Insurance branch of Allstate?
