I have been using this site for a few years now. It is EXCELLENT!

 

This site is great, but it quit working a few days ago. It is showing this message now:

Currently, service check VIN numbers are not available

The rest of the page is in russian, so I don't have a clue what it says.

Anyone have any ideas what happened to this site or know of an alternative?

First you have to install the Google tool bar in your browser.
Then add the "translate" button. It will then translate all foreign language sites to English.

What it says now is that you can request the same info in the forum, which is linked on that page and to that post. To request, you must first register, just like here.

I want to know all of the factory ordered options the car has. It's got rare seat's, rare paint and some other options that I don't see in any other w201.

Register, then post each VIN, then wait for a response...and per the web site only do this if really needed. Better than nothing, but what a pain in the neck. It would be very nice if they could set this up to allow a self service check like they supported in the past.

 

I need to get the following VIN decoded quickly (I have put a non-refundable deposit down to hold it until tomorrow) to verify the car's configuration...WDB2020282F152179...it is a 1995 c36 amg. For free you can get information direct from MBUSA and at the same time look up all the spare parts for your car.

I've tried the epc site and having no luck there. Managed to register, etc but cant get the applet to launch. Maybe its a Windows 7 thing. I was trying to find out what equipment my car had since it appears I have a backup camera but its not working but I cant confirm.
