Best choice out of these three, late 80's models.
New to the forum. A quick background, I'm 19 and I used to be really into Mustangs, and own an '86 5.0 5spd. However, about 8 mpnths ago, my mom got a w210 E320 and ever since I drove that car, I've liked my 'Stang less and less. And because I'm not in high school anymore, the Mustang isn't practical anymore, and I personally just really want a Benz. haha So the 'Stang is up for sale, and will probably be sold soon, and I'm gonna have about $3000 to spend on a Mercedes. I was hesitant to sell the Mustang until I saw how many fairly nice Mercedes' were available in that price range. I've been hunting craigslist, and researching all the different models that come up and I've narrowed it down to 3 different class/models I can and would like to choose from. All the ones I look at are usually in the late 80's range, but after reading up on the build quality of that era of MB, I think that's a good thing. I suppose before anything else I should tell you guys what I'm lookin to get out of this car. My main thing is comfort and reliability. When I bought the mustang I was in high school and just wanted somethin cool and sporty. Now I have a small commute to college every day and I'd like something comfortable, and something that I know is gonna keep goin for a while. I'm actually quite handy with a wrech, and very good with vehicle maintenance, so I'll be able to take care of the car, but I want one that has a good chance of stayin on the road for a while if taken care of. While I do want some sportiness too, the comfort is more important to me. Besides, I found with my moms 320, that just because a car is fairly quick, doesn't mean it cant be comfy as all get out. haha And now the 3 models I've come down to...
190E- I actually see quite a few of these. For about $3000 I've seen some examples that were clean insided and out, and usually under 120,000 miles.
W124 E-class- I see these come up pretty commonly too. I've seen a few of the different engine sizes come up. They're also in the 120,000 mile range and look pretty nice for about $3000
And finally the W126 S-class. From what reading I've done so far I feel like these are pretty awesome cars and as of right now I'm kinda shooting for one of these. I've seen quite a few 560 SEL's come up and I really like the look of these.
Those are the 3 that I'm lookin at. I do want a 4 door model. I guess I'm just mainly lookin for some input from some people who know these cars, and maybe have some first hand experience. Any info or insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks for lookin!

The 190E is a dog and the SEL is just too big; my dad had a 420 that had an echo in the back seat!

120K is not bad mileage as long as the services have all been done, and don't forget to check Carfax.
Can you do some of your own maintenance & repairs? MBs are great but they are pricey to repair, and older ones will require more attention.
Good luck!
