Question Interface for cell phone

I have an 2006 E350 sedan with the navigation package and a telephone button on the steering wheel. My husband was told that we need a physical interface in order to use the telephone system through the speakers. Wondering if I purchased the interface, could I program it to work. Trying to avoid the $500. fee from dealer to install the interface. I have found the interface on EBay for much less. My husband's car is a 2005 Lexus and his car was programmed without an interface. He has wireless capability in his older car. Unfortunately, Mercedes lacks in the latest technology department.

Providing that your E350, is already pre-wired for a bluetooth interface module, then yes you can install it yourself, and have cellphone capability. I had an 07 E350, that I just bought the bluetooth module for and I was set. The module was cheap even with my discount but well worth it. If your able to get it off of ebay then great.

Big difference between 2006 and 2007.

Nothing was "prewired" in 2006.

So you are saying that even with the Premium Package that includes a DVD navigation system, the only way I can have a wireless system is to have the MB dealer install? From the info I found below, it sounds like if I purchase the module, all I have to do is follow the insructions below. Is this correct?

I found this info on a website:
  1. The Bluetooth Interface Module should be attached to the connector, located in the center armrest.
  2. Locate the Mercedes-Benz emblem on the front of the Bluetooth Interface Module and push down on it for 3 seconds. Blue lamps on the front of the module will begin to blink rapidly, then release.
  3. Pick up your wireless phone and set up your phone to pair to a Bluetooth device as per your wireless phone owner’s manual. During this process your phone will ask you for a code, enter 62872 on your PHONE’S keypad. Attention S and CL customers, 2 Bluetooth devices will appear as found on your wireless phone. Be sure to select MB Phone System.
  4. Your phone should give you a confirmation message the pairing is complete.
  5. Test phone by making a call through the vehicle.
  6. Turn off the engine, be sure to take the key with you, exit the vehicle.

The latest version of the interface module is Mercedes part # B6 787 6131 and MSRP is indeed $493 for that part. It's $369.75 here: https://www.getmercedesparts.com/oem...des-parts.html

When entering part number at that website, omit the "B."

see my post above droid x sync

As I posted above, both Verizon and MB say that you cannot sync with the adapter mentioned if your phone is a droid. There is a compatible list you'll want to check. but I would like to know if you tried the code indicated and what type of phone you are syncing.
