Oil Change interval????
Here is what my Indy Mechanic suggests for my oil changes.....
Hi Mr. Bosmans
. Depending on the mileage we recommend changing the oil and filter once a year or every 5,000 miles if over 100,000 miles or 7,500 miles if under 100,000 miles.

Because of moisture, one year annual oil changes are a norm.
(Yet I have never seen a sample of Blackstone Labs reports (1 year versus 2 year) on this).
Dino Oil, 5K oil & filter changes seems to be the new norm.
Syth Oil, different Blackstone reports. To reduce costs, some conclusions are that an oil filter only and top off at 7500 and oil and filter at 12K show no oil breakdown.
IMHO your mechanic is not out of line with his recommendations.
