First Time Mercedes Buyer
I am looking into purchasing a car soon and have decided it's time I bought a Mercedes. I am looking to spend no more than $45k and am wondering a few things. I was considering leasing or purchasing a new c250 sedan with sport, premium 1, and multimedia packages, but one of my friends recently got a great deal on a used CLS. So my question is am I better off purchasing a newer, lower-end Mercedes, or should I spend the same or less money on an older, higher-end model. I was specifically looking at the CLS, E, or S class for a used model and a C250 for a new one. I am looking at overall value in fuel economy, cost to insure, maintenance costs, resale value, and, most importantly, driving experience. I haven't made it out to a dealership to test drive them yet, but I am looking to get a better idea of what I want before I go in. I await your opinion.

If driving experience is the major decision factor you may want to consider an AMG used model. Which model will be determined by your personal requirements i.e. 4 door 0r 2 door, cabriolet or fixed roof etc. Depreciation is brutal with Mercedes whether brand new or a few years old. Maintenance is bearable provided you keep on top of things and don't let issues become major repair expenses.
I have a S500 4Matic and an S55. I love them both for different reasons. Once you've experienced the S embrace it's tough to go back to a "regular" car. Good luck on your purchase.
