EBAY: MERCEDES KEY FOB SCAM ALERT
Alert! Mercedes-Benz Key Scam! Mercedes Key Replacement Beware
We have recently had some clients come to the dealership with remote keys for their Mercedes-Benz they purchased on eBay. We strongly advise not to purchase keys from a third party. Genuine Mercedes-Benz keys have to be ordered directly from Mercedes-Benz through the dealership network. Any keys purchased online will NOT work, ever, and cannot be re-programmed to work with your vehicle. It is a scam and should be avoided.
The Seller on ebay post this at the very bottom of the page(where people don't usually look)
"Up for auction is a OEM Mercedes Benz chrome remote key fob with valet key . Some models and years were not listed but will still work. Please check with your local Mercedes Benz dealer or auto locksmith to make sure this smart key can be used and reprogramed ( all suckers who don't read this will be bamboozled as any dealer or locksmith will tell you that the key cannot be reprogramed)for your car before bidding, as all sales are final.Not all dealers reprogram the keys, so make sure yours will before bidding. All keys are guaranteed to come in working condition with or without working batteries. They are tested by Mercedes Benz before they get shipped. This is an original OEM Mercedes part and retails from Mercedes at over $250. Be sure to look at my feedback from many satisfied customers who are enjoying their Mercedes parts already. Someone is going to get a GREAT DEAL on this original Mercedes Benz Part." The truth is that if you buy this key it can't be reprogramed and can never be reprogramed and you have swindled.
The truth is that these keys will never work and they cannot be reprogrammed. And the seller knows it. It is the scam of all scams. The seller knowingly sells you a key that he knows cannot be reprogrammed. The buyer has just flushed 57 dollars down the drain by purchasing a key that the seller knew could not be reprogrammed according to Mercedes Benz!!! The seller tries to get around this by say " I told you that not all dealers would reprogram the key". He's right because the key can't be reprogrammed and the seller knows it and is going to dupe every single person who purchased a key. He even admits to selling these "unusable keys (according to Mercedes Benz) to thousands of buyers!!!! He even states that he has sold thousands of these keys that Mercedes Benz says will never be able to be used. This is the scam of all scams.
