Tell me I'm stupid!
I have three month old E Class. Before the first month was up, the factory phone (Nokia 6310) stopped working. The phone by itself is fine, but the car doesn't recognise it when it is plugged in, it just says 'No Phone'.
So... this drives me nuts, but I can't be bothered going through all the hassle of putting the car in to get it fixed, for something that isn't really essential. But it annoys me every time I drive the stupid thing.
The first service isn't due for another 18 months! In the past when I got new cars, the dealer always had a early service check about 1000miles, to change the oil and fix any minor annoyances. This seems like a really good idea to me, and I think they should still do it. Does any new car really work perfectly out of the box (apart from Hondas of course).

Take it in.
BTW, Lexus, Land Rover and other car manufacturers have stopped offering phones or even hands free integral systems since problems with phones count towards a service problem that affects quality surveys.

OK, I've tried it with another phone and that doesn't work so it is the car not the phone.
I have booked it in for Monday to get it looked at.

So that was interesting. Took the car in, 'sorry all the loan vehicles are allocated' too bad, this is why I hate getting the car fixed.
Anyway, they said it is a software fault in the ECU for the phone and they will get a software upgrade from Germany within 2 weeks.
But when I got the car back the phone was working! So maybe the upgrade fixes losing the phone, but there is nothing actually wrong.

........on my clk I frequently get the message "error no phone"
By unplugging and plugging the phone back, the problem is frequently solved. A mercedes techniciamn once told me that plugging and unplugging the phone while the car is what causes the problem. Anecdotaly, I have not been able to confirm this.
