Lexus problems

Hi everybody,

I want to use this thread to cheer up anybody that is experiencing major problems with their Benz by showing them that other brans also have their lemons. Check out
www.mylexus-problems.com . It is somewhat hard to read because the man is Italian and his Englísh is not perfect, but I think most of you will get the point. Also, I read on a german Mercedes Forum that a member with an S55 and a W124 AMG drove convoy at speed around 155mph with a friends LS430 on the Autobahn. This LS430 kept overheating under these conditions. Apparently they cannot withstand prolonged high speed driving whivh proved they are designed primarily for the US market. The oil sludge problem is also known.

Anyways, just thought I would share this with everyone.

Have a nice day.

Frank

Lexus is Toyota's luxury division if that's what your talking about.

Luxury Import to US.A.

However one who thinks the LS430 can't match wits with a S500/430 (In USA) is bluffing him/herself.

As for the over heating problem, that sucks, I'd think Lexus would do much better because Europe is a hard market for them that they should grasp because the general conception of their company is, like omron said, just rebadged Toyota's. Crucial moments like this are what screw over a company.

Isn't the LS430 modeled after an S class? I read somewhere that it was. It would make sense.

Do all LS430's overheat like that, or just this one? Not enough information, and Toyota'll probably fix the problem soon anyway.

More importantly, did the LS430 handle OK at that speed?

Wow, i just checked out that problem web page. The guy oughta just get rid of the thing; it's obviously a lemon, imho, but i don't know what lemon laws they have where the guy lives.

Lexus

The new LS430 looks allright. If it really is as reliable as everybody says I could live with that design.

Love this thread!

Ok, a toyota is a great car. It's true, they are and I can't deny that. So therefore, a Lexus, being so closely engineered to Toyota, is most likely to follow those footsteps.

BUT......................

A TOYOTA/LEXUS is not, has never been, and will never be a MERCEDES-BENZ!!! I don't care what they do, they can get down on their little knees and beg the automotive world all they want, they will NEVER be viewed as equals by a person with TRUE automotive knowledge! Of course they overheat, a German car (i.e. Mercedes, Porsche, BMW) is engineered to the highest standards with high speed driving in mind. A Lexus is engineered to sit on a crowded city street and "look" like a German car.

P.S. Love the pics guys. Yep, those cute little "L's" are worth $20,000 more! LOL!!!

When I get so old that I no longer appreciate the intrinsic aspects of a MB (road feel, torque curve, steering weight, body rigidity/feel, design, cutting edge "original" engineering, ergonomics, etc.) ....I might consider a Lexus.

Naw, on second thought I'd rather just hire a driver to tool me around in the 2040 Maybach.

The Celsior IS the Japanese LS430, same with all the other models posted up.

I hope you don't think that the Aristo and Celsior cost $25,000 just because they don't say Lexus... it's not the badge, its the car that determines the price

any thoughts lexus owners?
No, just another thread started by a Lexus hater. I WILL tell you that I don't give a rat's *** if it was badged Toyota, Your Momma, Turds, etc, if everything was the exact same, I'd buy it no matter what it is called. Hell I took the badges off my GS.

It's funny but my family was not into cars until I got my first Lexus (an ES 300) now, they all own a Lexus. My friends one by one, sell or trade their cars in for a Lexus. The friends that still do want a BMW or Benz, tend to have little to no knowledge about cars (where their STRONG BRAND excels).

I think Benz makes great cars, no Lexus can touch an AMG product stock, Benz offers a vast array of color combinations and woods, etc but I place little value on heritage.

Looking at some arguments about heritage, then that would mean AMERICA is a sorry-*** country b/c it's only a little over 200 years old. So I sould move to Italy? Russia?

Nope.

any thoughts LEXUS owners???

1SICKLEX, let me start out by saying I don't give a f*** what you or any other Lexus owners have to say in Lexus' defense.

The fact that you do not appreciate heritage allowed me to full understand your lack of enthusiasm for the Mercedes brand.

I like your motto "People fear what they don't understand" you should apply that to yourself when it comes to Mercedes-Benz!

Have a good day!!!

Lightbulb My only real issue with Lexus

Poor active and passive safety.

http://www.whnet.com/4x4/W211_crashtest.html

From the pictures above, the LS430 seems to do a lot worse even when compared to the C-class.

I wonder how much Lexus and Mercedes spend on their respective safety research & development.

It appears to me safety is taken extremely seriously in MB's corporate culture and heritage as they roll out year after year inventions attempting to make their cars a little safer, 4matic, ESP, curtain air bags, ABC, teleaid, pre-safe, SBC, active lights, etc.

For someone like myself who enjoys driving fairly aggressively, I certainly appreciate the extra margin of safety.

Didn't I read somewhere that auto accident is the number one killer for those under 50?

You want a cookie? The funny thing is I love history. I think if Benz actually took care of it's quality+ it's heritage, OMG, they would be untouchable.

But to make cars that are basically just more expensive (comparative models), then for owners to stick their nose up b/c of heritage is silly.

Even I think Automoble picked a HYANDAI over the Benz hatchback because for 25k, the Hyandai was loaded, the Benz was not and the badge could not overcome it's deficiences. So much for heritage.

Sigh, so a lexus is just a 20K added onto a Toyota, and yet it's still more functional then a S430 and 500. Wow.

It's just amazing to see how much crap Mercedes owners will put themselves through trying to hide that Mercedes is no long the *shiznat* car. With the introduction of the W203's to the masses, it's going the other way.

W220's characteristics appeal to a certain driver base.
LS430's characteristics appeal to a certain driver base.
7-Series' characteristics appeal to a certain driver base.

That's what needs to sell cars and what you should judge them by, not what crap like history, because apparently it's shown that just because you have a long history doesn't mean your going to be successful; 1SICKLEX's country analogy, IBM, APPLE, and many more other allusions.

Lexus has caught up and in some categories surprassed Mercedes and BMW in the luxury segment division, believe or not, it's the truth. Even if you don't accept it, don't make yourself sound like an arrogant idiot that doesn't know **** about cars by posting "Oh but it doesn' t have heritage." Wake up!

Not a Benzer anymore
Since This Lex/Other Mfg Bashing is Getting Old and Will Repeat itself

Board Moderators: Can we waste the disk space and create another message board, something along the lines of "Other Vehicle Manufacturers"...

That way, those who want to read and post msgs about other cars can do so there and those who don't care about what the Jones' are doing, don't have to continue to see how people are wasting there time comparing apples to oranges.

This MB vs ____________ messages will always continue as long as this board gets new members.
