My lovely 2008 e550 just went over 100,000 miles last week. It was creamed the following Monday while parked outside my office. (No one was hurt.) I've been fortunate never to deal with an accident repair, so I'm not really familiar with the insurance process. The insurance estimate is about $12k and short of the the threshhold to total the car of about $17k. Should I just take the cash and not have it repaired? Or is the car ever going to be whole again? It is at a Mercedes-certified body shop.

Try making your insurance company totaling it. It just won't ever be the same again. By looking at the pic and imagining it being dragged thru that curb makes me wonder how much damage is underneath. Good luck.
