Autonomous Mercedes-Benz Semi-Truck Drove Itself on the Autobahn

The future of highway trucking might be here sooner than you think. Last week, a Mercedes-Benz semi-truck made its maiden self-driving voyage on a public road.

hmmm. As much as I love Mercedes I would not trust that truck on the road specially since it uses sensors to avoidance. YES, if the sensors on our C350, SL, SLS etc.. etc.. can fail so can the ones on this truck, and that would be a scary thing to happen.

will that mean that Autobahn semi trucks replace real drivers?
Will that mean that the price on semi trucks go down?

Triple redundancy and multiples means of calculating the environment will address the objection of failed sensors.

In the long term it means fewer truck drivers, and in the very long term it means trucks can be designed with no provision (seats, cabin, steering wheel, windshield, etc.) for humans. Think of a military drone that delivers a payload to a target, with no human pilot on board. Human systems on the vehicle will no longer be needed, replaced by sensors, actuators, software and computing hardware.

It will never replace real drivers!
<!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->Mercedes-Benz Trucks are very good ones. I have around five Mercedes trucks and I’m totally satisfied of their work. Personally, I’ve bought them on auction with very good price. Trucks there are presented in a very good condition, mine I’ve used around three years with no problems. Have a look there if you want to buy one, you’ll save a lot of money.
Auction that I’m using https://www.taylorandmartin.com
