Help! Need to lower maximum speed on C300!
I have been told I need to have a governor put on, but believe that their is a speed limiter already on it that is set to 130. Is this true?
Is it possible to take this to a dealer and have the top end of this lowered so that he can stay out of jail?
The valet mode can be removed and set back to factory stock in a matter of minutes.

And don't abdicate your parental responsibilities by saying, "Thanks for the unwanted and unsought parenting advise about a situation that you know nothing of...". I don't care about your situation.
Let me repeat that in case you didn't hear it. "I don't care about your situation !" I care about the safety of my family. You are more concerned with keeping your son out of jail than keeping others alive.
If your son is not mature enough to drive safely, he shouldn't be driving a vehicle on public roads. Get him into Autocross if possible but get him off the public roads.
I would say, "Thank you", for removing a potential danger to my family and me.
FWIW, every time I drive by the four (4!) crosses on the side of the road by Martinez Creek, I remember that it occurred a few years ago on Christmas Day because a young man was driving way too fast....
I don't want to have the police knock on my door because you wouldn't take the car keys away from your son.
In all seriousness and without rancor. Take 24 hours to respond. It's the old Chinese proverb, "In times of great joy, do not promise anyone anything. In times of great anger, do not answer". I'm curious as to how you are going to justify knowingly allowing your son to willfully and negligently endanger others by "...driving way too fast".
My son wrecked his first car. We wouldn't allow him to buy another for about 6 months. We made the GPS tracking a condition of him driving again and it let us know where he was going and how fast (in a 4 cyl Ford Ranger pickup that couldn't get out of it's own way).
It was an effective deterrent. He is now 25 and on his own with no other accidents

Pushed 40 in a 35 now and then, but that's all. He's now on his way to the FBI.
Last week he came home from college - an hour away - and took my wife's E350 back to school because we trust him completely.
Your son isn't ready for any car. I wasn't when I was 16. I got more speeding tickets than Waffle House has waffles. I eventually slowed down by age 22 or so. Luckily I didn't ever have a wreck or kill anyone.
Because of the car, he likely won't be hurt, but someone else will be.
Take the keys away, and wait 6 months. Lay down the law and try again.
He's a clear and present danger to himself and all around him. You know this. Do the right thing.
Don't shorten his leash; keep him fenced in the yard for a while longer.
