Opinions please........We've all heard or experienced first hand the legendary reliability of the OM617 5 cylinder diesel engine.
Is there a Mercedes gas powered engine equivalent? Let's keep the replies specific to the automotive world. No truck engines.
Has Mercedes manufactured any gas engines that are particularly noted for their longevity?

Ok. So let's say the comparison assumes the engines are all maintained according to Mercedes specification.
Which are noted for their rock-solid reliability? I ask because I haven't read anything about the gas engines. Only the diesels.
