IL Speeding Ticket Experiences & more likely to happen if driving a Benz?
I wanted to know if anyone else has had the pleasure of getting a speeding ticket in the Illinois area, espcially driving your MB.
Mine was that I was going through IL and I got pulled over for supposedly doing 55 in a 40. Problem is that I wasn't and had a not-so-pleasant experience with the local constabulary.
I was on a congested street and heading towards a red light and was doing less than 40 and I am positive that another car was tagged, but I got picked because of my out-of-state plates and driving a Mercedes. I had mentioned this to friends of mine in the area and they agreed that I am probably right. I was told cops in this area do not make a lot of money and hate younger drivers with nice cars. Plus the OOS plates were a bonus.
I am thinking of taking it to court, as there are a lot of things about this whole thing that stinks, but the problem I am concerned with is that it'll be my word against his.
If you have been pulled over and given a ticket here, what did you do? Did anyone take theirs to court? What was the outcome?

I grew up and lived in Illinois for many years and have been on the receiving end of a ticket or two with my now out of state plates. They are very sticky in IL and I make sure that I never speed through there. I did not go to court, just had an attorney get the ticket turned into a non moving violation. I never saw proof of my speed, so I may have hurt myself by just letting it go. I know they don't make alot of money, but I am not sure that is the whole issue. When I had my IL plates I got a few tickets doing just a few over the limit. They are just ticket crazy in my opinion. Just another way to generate a whole lot of revenue for the state. Get used to it.....I am from Wisconsin and got a speeding the first night I had my CL driving in Illinois, got pulled over and another ticket a few months later.....pulled away and got pulled over 5 blocks later (Im not kidding, 30 seconds after the other ticketed me) that same night...then got a noise ordinance ticket violation last week....they nail you if you are out of state.
