ML 270 CDI
How can I get a misfuelled ML 270 CDI back on the road?

Hello,

A pump attendant mistakenly fuelled our ML 270 CDI with 40 litres of Petrol. The car stopped after driving a distance of 400meters.
We have drained the fuel, cleaned the fuel tank. Serviced the Fuel Injectors. Car has failed to start. What do you recommend?

Did you ckeck the presence of petrol in the cylinders? remember diesel engines does not have sparkplugs, so if theres petrol cant be ignited, and by the way a diesel engine once gets air in the fuel system lines you'll have to purgue it, and change fuel filter, because maybe air or petrol in lines.

You need to drain the fuel rail and then ensure you have diesel at the lift pump which is bolted to the front of the engine, above the lift pump is the high pressure pump. If petrol has damaged the high pressure fuel pump then you will have no fuel pressure.

If you confirm presence of diesel at those locations and still no start, then you will need to get star plugged in and read out what your fuel pressure is.
