What brand of gas do you use?
Do any of you use a specific brand of gasoline?
I have an '86 BMW 528e into which I always, without fail, put 93 octane unleaded. Initially, I just used whatever brand of that was cheapest (usually Citgo [7-Eleven]), but more recently, I've felt guilty and use only Amoco or Exxon. I feel those two are of similarly high quality. However, I've also heard that Chevron is the very best.
How do you all feel? Do you just put in the cheapest brand, or do you have a specific preference? I figured high-end Benz owners would be the ones to ask!!

In the New York area, the only brand to offer 94 octane is Sunoco. However, 93 octane Mobil, Shell, Amoco, or Exxon are all good when Sunoco is not nearby.

Nice-looking car, 540i/6!! Are those AC Schnitzer wheels? What about the aerodynamics? Here's mine--1986 528eA. Still in pretty nice shape, and I religiously use premium (as stated in the owner's manual).
I'm looking for an E34--either 525i or 535i. A 530i or 540i is well out of my price range, but I'm curious--do you have to use a special low-sulfur premium, or can you just use ordinary premium?
Anyway, great car!

While the manual does not require premium, the high sulfur content of "cheap" gasoline has been responsible for the degrading of the nikasil lining on the engine. Over time, this results in compression loss. So as a precaution, I stick with the premium stuff. Most premium is low sulfur, in general.
Your bimmer still looks very nice and clean. If you're interested in my E34, PM me...I may be selling to get another car.

Sure, I'm interested in your 540i! However, all I can give you is whatever my 528 is worth (w/275K miles). I think you'd certainly want a lot more than that!
Good luck selling it, though. What kind of car do you think you'll be replacing it with?

Unless I am running really low on gas, I always go to an Amoco station and run the 93 octane Ultimate in both my MB and my Trans Am.
If I'm not close and can't make it there, I run the highest octane that the station I go to has and I try to find the best quality station that I can. ( No Huck's, 7-11, Country Market's, etc. )

All of them, as much as I can...
I agree w/ MsM. Amoco seems to work best for me.
I use Sunoco 94 whenever I can but Amoco Ultimate (93) seems to run my engines smoother.
