Traffic ticket question

Hi guys i have a question. Back in 2018 i recieved a ticket for speeding in nyc 20 over its 6 points court date was for 2019 but i got a lawyer to push it back to may 2020. I've changed my address since then and the state which i live in (driver license as well). Do i have any thing to worry about since i don't live there any more? Or should i get the lawyer once more to push it back?

The arm of the law is, as "they" say, long. You can run, but you can't hide.

Because you have a lawyer engaged, ask him/her the question. Bear in mind, a lawyer's primary interest is for the client to consume legal $ervices.

The best thing to do is pay the ticket as soon as possible, if not sooner.

If i plead guilty in NYC this ticket is 6 points, If you rack up 6 points in PA your driver license is suspended. I can't plead guilty.

You did not tell us what happens if you loose your dispute.
Your 6 points is confirmed, your DL suspension is confirmed, PLUS I would imagine you now have legal fees to pay for.
Which is the lesser of the 2 evils?

I would get a consultation with a nyc attorney who specializes in traffic violations (speeding). There are many.
I would check with the traffic court to see if your court date this month has been postponed because of Co-virus . Or you may be able to get another postoment due to situation.
If a no show, you may not be able to re-new your current State driver license because of the NYC no show suspension.

Because you have a lawyer involved, ask him/her about the process to plea bargain the points into a less severe category.

And do your best to avoid this situation in the future.

Because the point systems are different, PA will not add any points to your PA record for a NY violation. I'm not even sure NY would notify PA about the conviction. They would if they ticketed you with a PA license, but as far as they're concerned this is a NY violation. I think it ends with the conviction. But even if they report it, PA will not assess points. Your lawyer will confirm this.

Yes. But your insurance may be notified or become aware of it.

Yes, but that's better than losing your license. And taking traffic school can even prevent that. If NY offers online traffic school, it's a snap.

Well you already hired the attorney so just contact him and let him know about your new address. Since you already paid him, he will show up in court and say not guilty and come to some agreement I guess, at least that is how it works here where I live. Why blow it off as it may come back to haunt you,. You never know if you return to your state and then you have an unpaid ticket and that will make matters worse but if the attorney is going to show up on your behalf then why not update your info with the state and attorney, can only help.

Jury trial for a traffic violation? Unless NY is different then most states that isn't an option. Traffic violations are heard and decided by the judge, not a jury.

Oh ok, that isn't an option in NY or NJ unless there is also a criminal offense charged along with the traffic violation.
