Looks like the study was conducted in San Francisco.

As you can see from the article, brand wise however, BMW is the first place when it comes to customers selling their cars the first year.

This place is a joke.
I wonder how accurate the numbers are. It's long been known that MB and BMW in their battle to outsell one another have been padding thier sales figures with loaner cars. They used to be in loaner service for 1 year, then 6 months, then....less.

But does this speak of the car or more the owner?
I mean I understand lemon buybacks but that ca drag on past year 1.

So who sells a new car within 12 months ownership?
What a crazy hit on the wallet for depreciation...

Maybe LEASE turn ins for new model?

I am more curious as to why then what brand.

The study looked at over 46 million new car and SUV sales to come up with the data for this list, but interpreting the information is a bit tricky. The numbers don’t differentiate between purchases and lease vehicles, so it’s possible some of the data could include short-term leases of one year wrapping up. There’s also the possibility of data reflecting early termination of two-year lease deals. The researchers at iSeeCars took a closer look at the figures for us and found the percentages were fairly even between 4 and 12 months, suggesting one-year lease deals or early termination of two-year leases have little consequence on the data. Still, it's important to keep that in mind for this list.

What other factors push people to give up their new cars so quickly? Reliability can be an issue – the study points out that eight of the vehicles on the list come from luxury brands, some of which have below-average reliability ratings from Consumer Reports. In some cases, the vehicles themselves might simply be terrifically disappointing.

Only 3.4 percent of all new car buyers bail out of their purchase in the first year, so this isn’t a big trend by any means. Still, it’s interesting to see how individual models fare through that initial period.

Perhaps the C-Class, being an entry-level model, is more susceptible to buyer's remorse for first-time luxury car owners who realize that the monthly loan payments and annual maintenance costs are more than they can realistically afford.

Reminds me of other weird internet studies ...

Seems they study strange things that have no real purpose at improving anything... or learning anything...

I mean who ever did this study my question is WHY?

In the old days when someone did a study ... usually first couple paragraphs explained WHY they were doing it...

Then the data.
Then the anaysis and finally conclusions.

I admit that I owned an E63 (new and configured) for 206 days before trading it towards my CLS63......I lost about 5K....or it cost me 5K to drive the E63 for 206 days....I also bought wheels for it LOL. Price I paid for the E was 93K and I got 88K in trade value towards the CLS. I was happy though because at the time I had an E550 and a E63.

MAkes sense... wonder if those who buy the C realize crap for a few more bucks I could have the E class??

Buyers remorse... not so much car they sell within year but they really wanted something else and settled on what they bought.
Maybe wrong color... wrong options..

I started with an E. Never had a C or anything that cost less so I can't comment on the build quality. But you know, once we're used to it, it isn't really a big deal
