Replacing the ABC system with coil over struts
Ladies and gentlemen; I am new to the forums but as far as I can tell, there is a lot of wisdom in the forums. Must of you may not be engineers or Techs, but I feel this is full of creative people solving problems as a team! Kudos to that..!
I just purchased this not well maintained 2004 SL-500. The first thing I saw was a sagging front, so I am in the process of rebuilding the valve body at the front. After that I will see the effects. If no good, I will replace the ABC system with coil over struts. Bilstein sells replacements for the struts and I am here wondering if anyone who has done this job and has just purchased the struts and re-use the OEM springs..! That sounds like more economical than buying the whole assembly, but have not tried yet and not sure if that will work. Your wise comments will remove the dust cloud over this issue..!
