E-320 CDI performance question
Father just purchased a 05 320 Diesel. I was just curious what top speed is on this vehicle. I have seen specs on 0-60 but nothing on top end. I am not planning on taking the thing out and opening it up. I did put it on the interstate and it cruises nicely at 80. That is probably about as fast as I would ever cruise the thing. Like I said, I looked for specs but could not find them and was just curious.

Try the New E Class bulletin board, you will find lots of discussion there and some talk about the top speed too.
From memory the top speed is 243 km/h which is 150mph, but there is a rumor that US cars are restricted to 130mph.
European cars are generally restricted to 250km/h or 155mph.

I have cruised through france with cruise-control set on 150mph and it performed beautifully. In the uk top speed is 151mph but maybe more depending on conditions. Bear in mind that the speed indicated on the dash is lower that real spead by a few mph.

1998 E300
Check your tire rating. As a rule of thumb with newer benzes; if they are H-rated, that means MB cheapend up and its limited to 130, if it came with V-rated, its ristricted to 155. My guess that its limited to 130. My 98 E300 is said to have a top speed of 138-140, some even say that mercedes does limit the diesels...guess i'll have to find out
