D2B - MOST comparison / differences

What does MOST offer over D2B that caused MB to switch? Cheaper royalties? Cheaper to manufacture components? Performance boost? New function? More device support?

Anyone know?

CLK320
-Faster speed (probably not necessary...yet)
-Longer ring length
-Smaller bend radius
-Some people just can’t stand having older technology so they’ll buy a new car

But the main reason is that it is an open standard instead of proprietary (D2B); the economies of scale can kick in and push the price of components (like CD changers) down.

Just found this technical info so I thought I would share for those interested:

What is MOST?
• The MOST acronym is derived from the words:
“Media Oriented System Transport”
• An evolution of the fiber optic ring and electrical wake-up
configuration used in the D2B system
• A communication standard created by DCAG, Becker, and other
corporations (unlike D2B that was exclusive to MB)

There are some real world limitations to MOST. The numbers are not real or as perfect.

But at least EVERYONE is adopting MOST which means more hardware and more choices.
