Pics of the GL450 from Chicago
Here are pics of the GL450 from Chicago. Exterior Set.
I know - just a lowly 450 - but the thing was pretty darn loaded-up nicely....
I found the second-row seats to be quite interesting contraptions, indeed.
The guy who shot these for me was VERY impressed with the GL. He said that he could easily sit two of him for a long ride in the third-row seating (he's 6'2"). He said that the luggage capacity in the rear cargo area looked like it was "two suitcases wide" with the third-row seating all the way back. And He also said that the seating was 60-40 and/or 50-50 split, and that they could be folded flat independently -- a good thing for multiple-person, multiple-luggage travel.
Can you imagine what the AMG version is gonna be like?!!! Yee Haw!

I liked the car a lot, but I liked more on the pics then now in
real! Maybe it needs some exterior upgrades.
ClayJ - where exactly was the R63 AMG somehow I overlooked
it.

I couldn't make the show -- so I asked my USA GM to go for me. He took the pics as well.
He said that the only R was a customized one for the Rolling Stones (or whatever), and that it was black on black with a hideous interior. And that it was roped off in a corner or whatever, and not that accessible -- or something like that.
So there was an R, it was a heavily customized one, it wasn't accessible, and it was not an AMG (let alone an R63) model.....
He didn't even take pictures of it. I gave him some shiznit for that - but he said that it just wasn't worth it.
So there was an R there -- but not the one we wanted to see! And no pics....

I saw the one you are talking about. It was already sported
on emercedes and is absolutely hideous. I was just asking
because the R63 was supposed to be shown in Chicago
wasn't it?

Mercedes should be ashamed of themselves for having so many options on this thing. I mean leather, power liftgate, "comfort group" should be standard. Too many options easily 10K worth. I see they do have Airmatic listed as standard. Why it isn't standard on the R500 and ML500 is beyond me.
I saw this GL in Detroit and it looked much more like a Benz than the first pics lead me to think. I still wish they'd done something more with the interior, you can hardly tell it from a M-Class!

According to emercedes.com and apparently autoblog.com there was an R63 there. But two poeple whom I know went to the show say that there wasn't.... Did they pull it after a day or something. Dangit! I really wanted pictures of that car!
One of our members works in Alabama and says that they are spitting out R63's. They're probably going to Europe - the b@st@rds!

If priced similarly to Escalade,
as in mid to upper-$50's plus options, it will truly be the one...as i've said before, imagine being able to drive something that LARGE that is UNIBODY!!!

Thanks for the photos. At least these GL's were open. They weren't in Detroit unfortunately.

I really appreciated getting as good a look at the interior, seats, and rear cargo area of the GL as he got in the pics - very pleased.
I did post the R63 pics off of emercedes.com (from another site) in the R forum -- they're fair, not great.
I did find this pic of the apparent Rolling Stones R that was at Chicago. Posted by another member on another thread today or yesterday.
