Gl 550?
Anyone know if the GL will get a more powerful engine, as in the 550, and when?

no official plans for the 550. i'm guessing they want to see the sales on the 450 before they commit variants.

My dealer said at least a year b4 they see anything else, 'course, he may have just been saying that to get a sale.....
I agree with jayj, MB probably just wants to wait and see how the 450 sells....

Yeah this is what the automags are saying about this. I think they're going about it the right way because more models doesn't always mean more sales especially when it comes to MB's many variants. Though I would have like a GL550 (500 in Europe) be the first model out the gate to take on the most powerful members of this class like the new Escalade and RR Supercharged both sitting at 400 or so horses. I think if the GL is a hit they'll bring over the GL320 next because of the gas prices and if gas gets under comfortably under 3 bucks again the GL550 is a given. Americans forget this stuff after a while if nothing really shocking happens with the prices and they eventually recede.
