Here's the frost on our grass from last January in Scottsdale, Arizona. It's snowed here as well, and we're, what, 1500 feet below Vegas?

Jack, your locations, composition, subject matter, and image quality are fantastic!

So how would you would compare your GL to your S? The more I drive our GL, the more I think of it as a German luxury car in a multipurpose body.

Also, is that sunshade the MB version?

OK, so how do you get elevation to show on the NAV? My husband & I were talking about how nice that would have been when we were on our Montana trip. The property we liked was at 7,000 feet which to us, was too high (too much snow!).

Thanks raj.

I think you describe the GL perfectly...the ride and the whole package looks like an SUV but is really a luxury sedan. The S was a little more refined, more like a limo ride but with ABC a very excellent performing car. Some SUV adherents would argue that it is not "tough" enough but I wanted a good ride with the SUV features...the 550 is that truck!

The sunshade is from AutoSportCatalog. It is the UV model. A little bulky but since it fits so nice in that opening I am glad I got it.

The elevation should show when in route guidance mode. Click the Compass softkey and the display will show the compass and steering angle. In the right portion of the screen it will show the Elevation. See page 165 in the COMAND Operators Manual.

You can also set the display you want. Go to Settings menu and select Map softkey. If you select GPS coordinates it will show your coordinates, number of satellites and the height above sea level. Page 188

Thanks Jack...I'll play with it tonight. We both felt it should show the elevation, but I didn't realize it did. I'll admit, I've only looked through the COMAND manual once, and that was to figure out how to set the clock.

Who'd have thought there was ever snow in Vegas - not me. Anyway I'll trade you for a Calgary winter .. -30° isn't unusual. Glad I've got the heated steering wheel .. it's already gotten a work out this past week!

I have plenty of adventure here in Las Vegas. Every time I walk into a casino for lunch or dinner I have the adventure of not knowing whether the meal will cost me what is on the menu...or a couple of "big" ones based on my luck of getting out of that place alive. Now that's adventure and the weather report doesn't mean a thing...just the odds...:-)

I swear, this is on topic. You see, I actually drove to the kids' football game in my GL, so it counts. Plus, the raffle from my daughter's school is for the car shown. Not bad, I could live with winning one of those!

For those who wonder, that's the world-famous Camelback Mountain in the foreground.

Yeah, have you gone to the MB dealer about that? It might be under warranty.

Anyway, great pics of your GL, ReachWest!

That's a special Canada thing - the wheel always points like a compass when parked, cause we're so close to magnetic North.
