Great pics Scotty! That's a bear of a hike with that pack in the heat. How much water did you carry in? How were the legs the next day?
Next time, try your MasterCard saying something like this...
7-1/2 miles, 7-1/2 hours, 4400 VF, 30lb. pack on the dog, Priceless.

Now that's a dog that can earn his keep, or maybe not.
It was at the end of the trip and we did several extensive hikes while in the canyon. Bright Angel is up hill all the way with no flat sections. I left the river with 3L water and there are 3 water stops to refill. I estimate that I drank 5-6L water and never had to go ....... The river is at 2400 and the rim is at 6800.
The feet were pretty beat up the next morning but not much else. Trying to keep up with my two 20 something nieces in Sedona just about whooped me though.

I've seen hikers come out of the Canyon...I have great respect for you!
After hiking to Vernal Falls yesterday (3 miles) most of which were straight up and climbing over rocks then hiking 4.5 miles today at the Grove of the Redwoods, I'm hiked out.

Thanks, just picked up a D80 a few days ago, and have been trying to get some time to fool around with it. Problem is the only lens I have that will fit is my AF-D 28-105 and that's not all that wide. See, my old DCS 330 could use the pure APS size lens Nikkor-IX lenses, and I have a few of those, 'cus they were cheap, but good. Although they are F-Mount, they have a tube that prevents mounting on the newer bodies. Real **** off is salesdude said they would work, but apparently they can be modified pretty easy....
See, I don't even have time to take the pics, and now I'm moddin, equipment.
