It almost sounds coincidental if it was a plug and play bulb. The HID's will tax the electrical system much less than halogens. If anything, you should only have seen a lightbulb code. I'd like to know more about HID options as my brother's GL was also ordered without HID's. The sales managers excuse is that people aren't willing to pay extra for it. What an idiot!

Why the hell are you guys retrofitting HID's into housings that werent made for HID's? Not only is the beam off, you are blinding everyone else on the road with the incorrect pattern.
If you want HID's do it right and get the OEM projectors and housings please.
Also, if you retrofit HID's you need to have resistors in place so the car doesn't think there is a bulb out. Or you can have the car reprogammed via SDS to 'Xenon On." This only a dealer can do.

On a 2007 Gl I asked about changing out the regular headlamps for the bi-Xenon units and the dealer told me it could not be done. The headlamp units are not inter-changeable because the bi-Xeneon units have the directional motors.
I don't know. But that is what I was told.
By the way, the Bi-Xenon option with the directional headlamps and the directional foglamps is wonderful. I recommend it.

The entire housing has to be replaced. The motor is inside the housing. Don't always listen to your dealer, cause more often than not, they don't know ****.
I have to teach my dealer tricks all the time. Case in point, getting the right side mirror to tilt down in the SL.
