Need help. Problems after HID install.
Speedo stoped working, parking sensor stoped working, passenger airbag switched off, ABS and ESP both switched off, and check engine light. oh yea, no more power steering.
Can you guys give me some suggestions? will dealer fix the problems because of the aftermarket HIDs? Can it still be driven?
Thanks alot!
Sounds like you have a major issue, not just HID's. I did the same thing, had HID installed about 3 weeks ago, no issues what so ever. There really insnt much to the install other then swapping out the lights, installing the ballisters and mounting. I am not sure what they could have done to mess everything else up. Have you asked the shop? You could take the car into the dealership and not tell them but if the issues are linked to the HID install they might charge you if they find out!!
Oh btw, what does SOL stand for

You should fight with the installer first. If you go to the dealership, they WILL void your warranty for this issue and any future issues. The last thing you want is to lose your warranty because of this. Keep the dealer out of this until you know for sure that you will be paying out of pocket.
If the installer spliced into your wiring harness, MB may even require you to replace the entire wiring harness before they will reinstate your warranty (I have seen this happen before and it will cost you thousands to replace a wiring harness).

Thanks Robert! Those are some really good points. thank you!!!
This is my first MB, and i didn't know it would cause all those problems from a bad HID install.
maybe it's time to mention the HID install to them, if for no other reason than to lead them down the correct path with the correct info?
1) Let the dealer discover it themselves but when they find out be ready to have a good answer rather than just scratching your head when they ask "Why the fuxk didn't you tell us?"
2) Let the dealer know already but be ready to have a good suggestion and not just scratch your head when they tell you "You just fuxked up your warranty."
3) See if you have any warranty (implied and all) that could cover all the work done by the HID installer. And if there is some sort of warranty then study, scrutinize, analyse, all its aspect and be ready to do the extreme.
4) Get a really good lawyer who could advice you early on as you consider all your options. A REALLY good one.
5) Think about getting wife a rolex so she will forget about the GL for a while.
6) Skip lunch to save money - you're gonna need it.
It took dealer a few days to fix it, but they fixed it after all. I took a look at the print out paper dealer gave me, there were 32 error codes.
i guess i am not going to mess with it again.

Did they say what it was? I am wondering if there was a short or if they just reset everything?? That is quite common when you play with the electronics. A simple ECU reset can get things back up and running (if you are lucky).
Jangy- there was a part that controls ESP broke, so they had to order a new one in. there were bunch of error codes too.

I am not sure wether HIDs caused it or not. The hids were plug and play, no splicing the wires.

luck!!
