Oil Consumption

Anyone have thoughts on what normal oil consumption should be? After 3800 miles I got the "check oil at next fillup" light and was one quart low. The dealer added one and after another 1500 of highway driving I was at the lower end of the dipstick. I've seen posts on other forums, but not anything on the engine in the 450. Thanks

I am at 4k miles and no issues with anything at this point. I am starting to open her up on the highway (I hit 110mph on the freeway) and am starting to push the engine from 0-60...pretty impressive considering how heavy this truck is.

Best Regards,
mel

No Oil Problems @ 7,000+

I have had my GL 450 PE for two months and have 7,500 miles on her. Trip from Virginia to Oklahoma and back. Car works great normal oil use.

Depends where I'm going.
3100 miles here and I guess it's time to check my oil for the first time. I don't normally check the oil on any of my cars.

In fact, I thought the trend in newer cars was that they monitored their own oil levels. My 997S has an electronic oil gauge and no dipstick. It has however burned 1 quart of Mobil1 in the 4000 miles that I've put on it, which is normal for that car. My 745Li doesn't have a dipstick or oil gauge so I couldn't tell you how much it does or does not burn. Let me correct myself, they don't have dipsticks as long as you don't count the one behind the wheel.
