Ipod and Rear DVD - any solutions yet?
New to the forum. I see a few threads about Ipods and rear DVD integration, but not any clear resolutions.
Has anyone figured this out? Either to attach the Ipod to the DVD unit or to have both attached to the main stereo?
Thanks for your help.

ok guys...help me understand. I was told that I could not have the Ipod kit AND the Rear Seat DVD (factory installed). I assume they use the same input on the main stereo. So, how are you able to have both?
My car is being delivered this week, so no, I can not go back and order both.

Can you explain how this would work? I have the RSES installed at factory. Can I have the dealer install this switch, and the Ipod kit, and have the Ipod work as well as the RSES? Is this is the case - that is the answer I was looking for.
Thanks

a new harness replaces one behind the comand module. you then also buy the ipod integration kit. when you plug in ipod you get the sound from ipod. if you unplug the ipod you get the sound from whatever yo have playing in the rse dvd.
so yes u have ipod and rse capability.

I remember a discussion a while back concerning the lack of not being able to have both iPod and the factory RSES (headrest monitors) due to the AUX input jack being used. Looking over the accessory guide posted elsewhere I found this part that will allow for both. Its called AASS.

but this says "except in vehicles with RSES"...meaning i guess that there are 2 possible inputs (IPOD and AUX) except you use the AUX up when you have RSES...

Depends on how you read it.
I read to mean:
IPOD & RSES
IPOD & AUX
AUX & RSES
NOT
IPOD, RSES & AUX
It is some sort of switch. I guess this only way to confirm it is to find the install procedures.

I have an early production premier edition (may 06) that has both RSES and IPOD that I recently purchase used. I'm guessing the Ipod was installed later, as it was not listed on the window sticker that i found in the glove box. It will not let me play the RSES audio (movie audio) through the speakers, regarless if I disconnect my iPod for the harness. I spent an hour just pressing different buttons w/ and w/out the iPod. Do you think I need to upgrade to the newer harness?
