Angry Lowrider

Hello, again:

I was thinking after my long trip that all my little problems with the GL had vanished. I even had its first service done at my home (a free one-time service provided by my dealer), but then Germancar1 had to ask in another post if all my issues had been resolved. This evening, my father came home in the GL, and I noticed it was riding rather low. I asked him if he noticed anything funny, and he responded that the ride felt a bit bouncy. Well, duh! The front suspension was on the bushings!!! Somehow, the airmatic deflated in the front. I inspected the vehicle and even tried tricking it into filling the bags by putting it on high ride. All it did was give me a nice little message on the dashboard display: "Visit shop." I give up. Either Germancar1 stops asking about my GL, or else.

Actually, all kidding aside, the bags in front are deflated at 4500 miles. Rear is fine, but it may go soon as well. I guess it's off to the "shop" I will go and get my nice little Ford Focus rental to get me home tomorrow. So much for the exclusivity of the Premier Edition GL. Thus far, the A/C went kaput a month after it was bought, and now the suspension. I'm beginning to wonder if I should retrieve my deposit on the S63 and buy a bicycle instead. But, then again, Germancar1 may ask how it rides and I'll end up with a flat tire and a broken leg.

I feel sorry for you.. I like GL.
I wonder why only Mercedes has problems with airmatic (this was common problem on w220 S class)? I mean, other manufactures , like Audi, BMW, Lexus etc. now even Jaguar, have their own airmatic suspensions. But I've never heard about their cars falling down and being lowrider..
I thought that since Mercedes invented air supsension, which debuted in 1998, it was supposed to be best.

Sorry to hear that.

That's probably caused by a batch of faulty AMK air compressors, Mercedes part number 1643200004.

My GL goes up and down and up and down. Just this afternoon, it went to the "raised" position by itself. I almost trip my ankle when I tried to get down as I never expect it to be in the raised position. I never pressed the "raised" button.

My GL seems to have some anomaly with its suspension. It will go up for Then it will bleed some air and sits low, although I don't think its completely deflated. Then the ride becomes very bouncy, rough and accompanied by loud thuds from the bumps. It will drive like that for days until it raised itself back again to another position, that time the ride will normalize.

I started to regret owning this suv.
