If it's thru MB, it's the same as the original warranty.

You may be right but in the W-211 E's, the extended warranty from MB does NOT cover the COMAND system and related electronic items, e.g. Nav, Audio, phone. It does cover suspension as well as power train.

With the Airmatic problems on the new GL's, I think you should get the extended warranty if you plan on keeping the car.

I was thinking about getting a GL as we need a full size SUV; however, we've been happy with our Denali and haven't had any suspension problems. I've been checking out this forum before even test driving one and think I'll probably wait a while for the "Growing Pains" of the new model to be resolved. MB doesn't seem to "get it right" with their new models very often.

Double Eagle, apparently you have been misinformed.

Here is the link to the MBUSA website regarding extended warranties.

http://www.mbusa.com/care/warranty/extended-limited.do

As you can see it doesn't differentiate between models and it does cover Command, audio and various electrical systems.

Basically most things that are not considered normal wear and tear.
