That may be true the keyless go works differently on the E55 but I still don't understand why you can't put the thing in park before you turn it off.

I don't understand why this is going on and on. Shift the car in park and then turn off the engine. Who turns their car off while the car is in drive? Put the car in park like everyone else does and be done with this. It is this type of "let me see what happens" stuff that causes trouble for everyone.

I had an '03 745Li and it had the same system as your 750. It automatically goes into P if you shut off the engine. The GL does not!

You are absolutely right, you should put it in park before shutting it off, but I have done it a couple of times myself and caught it before leaving the car. Like I posted in the previous post, my BMW 745Li had a similar e-shift stalk and it auto parked when you shut off the engine. Old habits are hard to break!

I have also had a couple of occasions where I reshifted into D while rolling because I meant to clean my windshield. My Lexus has the wiper stalk on the right almost exactly where the shifter stalk is on the GL. Fortunately for me, I push down to turn on the wipers rather than up. I'd have an expensive tranny repair bill if I shifted into reverse while rolling!

Am I missing something? What's the problem? It's not like a car with a regular transmission shifter lever will go to P by itself if you turn off the engine. Just put it in P before you shut off the engine.

I need to add this to it.

Wow, what a small world, I know the owner of the Mexico Blue 997S in the photo! I recognized the serial# on the EVOMS supercharger kit. That particular setup is for a 997S but they do have a kit for a 996.
