I have both and its faster to get around in the touch screen but the screen always has fingerprints.

I think MB prefers the non-touch because the screen gets destroyed in a year or too.

Had a Lexus LX470 for 4 years before my GL.

No comparison. The touch screen on the Lexus was so fast and easy to use. Never broker or had any problems and it was always easy to see.

I love the GL, but the nav screen is a pain in the rear and archaic in comparison.

Toyota makes an awesome nav touchscreen in the Landcruiser. (I would think its the same as Lexus)
I will say that after using the jog dial on the new S though, it is extremely easy and fast as well. A few turns and clicks and your all set. Maybe all MB's will include that as well one day?.

What I really hated was that the touchscreen in the Toyota is locked out while moving.. at least it was on the models a few years ago.

The size of the navigation screen in the GL is also disappointing, given the size of its cabin. I drove one GL for a day and this was one of the 3 things I noticed that kept me from purchasing (yet!).

PS The next generation Lexus LX will have 8 inch screen.
