Question 19in wheels in snow?..

how do these handle heavy snow/ice?...friend told me didn't handle that well in heavy snow here in pennsylvania this past week, going up a sloping driveway..

anyone experience similiar?...will the 18in handle better?

does having the traction control always on hamper maneuverability?

thanks.

Its the tires not the wheels that make the biggest difference.

3 Porsche rotation
Also the narrower the tire, better traction and easy to plow through in the snow.

That's a good point: is the tire the comes with the 19" package primarily summer tire and not M+S rated like many heavier SUV tires?

I know some others such as the X5 and the ML come with primarily all season or performance summer radials, and not a "truck" tire like what's on our LX 470.

Just took my GL through the recent snow in the NorthEast. Did great in the snow. I have a very steep driveway, and it did well on that as well. Gave me a good chance to experiment with the off-road package, DSR, and low range. The car is a monster in the low range mode--I can't imagine it getting stuck in anything.

19" with Conti

Spent the weekend in the snow, and the 19" wheels with stock tires (Conti 4x4) did very well. I was very surprised how well it handled!
