Service A due in 29 days?

My GL450 has about 4300 miles and last night I noticed the "Service A due in 29 days" on my dash. What's wrong with the picture here? I got my first visit done at about 3500 miles. Should I take it in for the Service A?

In addition to mileage it also works on calender time. I believe but am not certain it is 1 and a half years. The first "courtesy" service does not count. If you have had the car for whatever the calender time is it will alert you and you should do it. Seems that you will be getting an A service.

How do you check the production date? I purchased it on 11/18/06 and my GL450 should be a late model vehicle because it has the factory backup camera option. I believe this option was not available until late 2006.

Just stop by your dealer and ask your SA to reset it. It should warn you at 13,000 miles or 1 years as I understand it.

You should be able to get the production date from the dealer. On some vehicles it is on the data plate but I am not certain about that one. It is possible that the factory or dealer did not set the maint reminder system correctly or, the Vehicle had been sitting around somewhere for some time. When you purchased it the 07's were out or about to be delivered.

Production date and place are on a plate in the door well on the driver's side.

My build date was 06/06/06 and my delivery date was 06/16/06.

When the Service A nag screen gets down to 0 it will change and say Due for Service B. That just happened on my S550...will be a year old in April.

When you take your car in, they will print up the VMI that basically includes everything about the options, from what engine/trans it has, all the options when originally purchased, and what kind of warranty work has already been performed at any dealership.

I know I have done this to alot of 06 & 07 W203 cars, but you should be able to reset the service indicator light by recalculating the mileage or date when last serviced or the days until next service due and then re-entering it into either the instrument cluster settings or into the Assyst plus settings. Either way, it should be able to be reset and say the proper time or mileage until your next service.

I think MB uses the Satellite radio for setting the clock, if you have Sat. radio. Or, maybe just my lazy butt hasn't figured out how to change time. When I took delivery, I just changed the timezone and the clock has been right since. Guess, I will find out in 2 weeks

I had the service reset problem as well when my service A reminder started popping up at less than 1000 miles. The first tech tried to tell me it was normal and was based on my driving style. I called BS and spoke to a shop foreman today. From what he told me, it appears that that service reminders are based on time and mileage both but are skewed towards time. If a car has been on the dealer lot for a while then the service nag will pop up even with low mileage on the car. The dealer than has to reset the "number of days since last oil change" to get the cycle correct. At least they got it correct on mine.

I wouldn't worry too much and put your foot down at the dealer's to get it fixed.
